New Delhi: Shikhar Dhawan's performance in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) started on a shaky note as he only managed to score 14 runs in his first match. However, the experienced cricketer bounced back in spectacular fashion during his second game, scoring a brilliant half-century. Playing for Karnali Yaks against Kathmandu Gurkhas, Dhawan struggled to find his rhythm initially and was at 33 off 35 balls. But he quickly picked up the pace in the final overs, ending with a fiery 72 off 51 deliveries. His knock included four boundaries and five huge sixes, dismantling the Kathmandu bowling attack. Thanks to Dhawan's explosive innings, Karnali Yaks set a competitive total of 149/5 in their 20 overs.

Karnali Yaks’ innings largely revolved around Shikhar Dhawan’s heroics, which were instrumental in helping the team post a competitive total. Apart from Dhawan’s stellar knock, only Chadwick Walton made a notable contribution, scoring a quick 21 off 15 balls. After suffering an eight-wicket defeat to Janakpur Bolts in their opening game, Karnali will be eager to secure their first win against Kathmandu Gurkhas to get on the points table. With the tournament witnessing several low-scoring encounters, their total of 149 appears defendable and sets the stage for an exciting contest.

The tournament features eight teams competing in a round-robin format, where each team plays against every other team once.
